Recently I joined a medieval re-creation society here in North Wales called Samhain. I rashly thought perhaps I could bring my interest in games and board games to the group. Now I have to make all these things from scratch. Unfortunately I lack any practical skills whatsoever. So I cheat ever so slightly, find ways around and improvise or cheat. This is how I go about it, and yes, I am making it up as I go along.
When reading my blog you may get the impression that, because I write each make as a separate session report, each make is completed in a single session. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. Whereas some makes can and are accomplished in one session; the loom for example, was built in the back yard in anticipation of a typical Welsh seaside downpour. On the other hand my shove groat board has been in production for a number of weeks now, in fits and starts, and is still not ready. So take everything I say in here with a pinch of salt.
